The major maintenance of Turbine No. 14, the generator, gearbox, combustion chamber, and transformer of Fajr Energy Persian Gulf was completed within two months.
Fajr Energy has taken another step towards ensuring the stability of the region’s industries by carrying out a major overhaul of one of its power generation units.
According to the Public Relations Department of Fajr Energy Persian Gulf, the overhaul of Turbine No. 14, the generator, gearbox, combustion chamber, and transformer of this generating unit was completed in two months, requiring 50,000 man-hours of work. This extensive operation—undertaken with the participation of staff from the maintenance, operations, technical services, administrative, security, commercial, and HSE departments, along with cooperating contractor companies—was executed without any technical incidents and achieved complete success.
As part of the project, all fixed and moving turbine blades were replaced with refurbished ones, and the gearbox was fully disassembled, overhauled, and recalibrated. The combustion chamber was completely restored and adjusted. The Inner Liner and Hot Gas Casing were also replaced with refurbished parts.
In addition, routine transformer maintenance and related tests were performed, and comprehensive generator health checks—including routine stator and rotor tests—were successfully conducted. For the first time, the turbine, compressor, and combustion chamber insulations were replaced with domestically manufactured insulation materials. Both unit stacks, along with the HRSG body and gearbox casing, were also repainted.
This major overhaul forms part of Fajr Energy Persian Gulf’s multi-year maintenance program aimed at ensuring production stability and enhancing the efficiency of its power plants. These actions play a vital role in providing reliable energy for the region’s petrochemical industries.
By executing this project, Fajr Energy has taken yet another significant step towards improving performance, upgrading the quality of its power generation equipment, and guaranteeing the continuous supply required by the industry.
