Fajr Energy Pursues Modern Methods and Technologies for Water and Wastewater Treatment
Persian Gulf Fajr Energy Co recently hosted a specialized scientific seminar on “Modern Methods and Technologies for Water and Wastewater Treatment” on Wednesday
on Wednesday, October 2024, with the participation of the company’s CEO, heads of HSE, environment, and process departments from the Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Group, as well as representatives from Bandar Imam, Arvand, Tondgouyan, and Karoon petrochemical companies. The event was held at Ferdowsi Cultural Center in Mahshahr.
During the seminar, two innovative technologies were presented by leading companies in this field:

Electrodeionization (EDI): This system operates based on electrodialysis within cells equipped with electrodes, selective ion-exchange membranes, and ion-exchange resins, continuously removing ions and offering an advanced alternative to traditional resin-based purification systems. The produced water has an electrical conductivity of less than one microsiemens, with an impressive system efficiency of 95%. The resins are recharged using electricity, eliminating the need for chemical regeneration.

Low-Temperature Evaporation (LTE): This technology is used for industrial wastewater treatment without restrictions on inlet quality or impurities. The process involves low-temperature evaporation under vacuum, condensing the resulting vapor to produce demineralized water. Remaining salts are collected in dryers and crystallized.

At the end of the seminar, participants discussed the applicability of these modern technologies in various industrial sectors to further enhance environmental performance and water resource sustainability at  Persian Gulf Fajr Energy Co and the region’s petrochemical complexes.
